The alarm didn't play
Check the sound switch, the device volume and that the tab isn't muted. Browsers need one click on the page before they allow sound. If a Play alarm button showed up, the browser held the sound back; press it. More in Sound and alarm.
The floating timer didn't open
Press Float. If the browser asks, allow picture-in-picture. Firefox and Safari only open it from a click, so the automatic window can be skipped there. No Float button means you're on a phone or the browser has no picture-in-picture. More in Floating timer.
The second screen won't open or shows the wrong thing
- Blocked: allow pop-ups for TimerFlip in the address bar, then press Second screen again.
- Opened on the laptop: drag the window to the projector and click it.
- Projector shows the laptop screen: the displays are mirrored. Set them to extended, or use full screen.
- No Second screen button: it's on the classroom, stage, stopwatch and interval timers, and only on computers.
Keyboard shortcuts do nothing
Click an empty part of the page so a text field isn't focused, and don't hold Cmd, Ctrl or Alt. See Keyboard shortcuts.
Full screen doesn't fill the screen
On iPhone, Safari can't make a page truly full screen, so the timer fills the browser page instead. Elsewhere, if the browser refuses full screen, the same page-filling layout is used. Press the exit button in the bar to leave it.
The time looks a second off
The countdown rounds up to the whole second, so it shows 05:00 for the first second and reaches 00:00 exactly at the end. The stopwatch rounds down. Both work from the clock time, so a background tab never drifts.
My settings or laps are gone
Settings live in this browser only, and private windows or clearing site data remove them. Laps aren't saved at all; copy them before reloading. See what's saved.
