Set the length

  • The page opens on 10 minutes in the Digital view, with large digits and a thick bar.
  • Tap 5, 15, 20, 30 or 60 to change it, or open Set a custom time for lengths like 7 minutes. See custom times.
  • Choosing a time never starts it, so you can set up before the class settles. A custom time is the exception and starts as soon as you press its Start.
  • The Cube and Digital switch still works if you'd rather show the cube. That choice lasts for this visit.

Show on the board

Show on the board is the classroom name for full screen. The menu, page text and controls disappear and the clock fills the display the browser window is on.

  • If your laptop mirrors the board, press it on the laptop and the board shows the same thing.
  • If the board is an extended display, drag the browser window onto it first, then press Show on the board.
  • A slim bar at the bottom keeps the times, start, pause, reset, sound and view in reach. It fades a few seconds after you start; move the mouse or tap to bring it back.
  • Press Esc or the exit button at the right of the bar to get the page back.

Board and laptop at the same time

With the board set up as an extended display, press Second screen. The clock opens alone in its own window: drag it onto the board and click it to fill that screen. Start, pause and reset stay on your laptop, out of sight of the class. Details are in Second screen.

The colour bar

The bar under the digits shrinks as time runs down and changes colour on the way: green at the start, orange by the halfway point and red as it reaches zero. The colour comes from the share of time left, so a 5 minute and a 60 minute timer change colour at the same points.

At zero

  • The screen reads Time's up! and the alarm rings for up to about 25 seconds, unless sound is off.
  • Press Stop alarm or Space to silence it. Restart runs the same length again.
  • For tests and silent reading, switch off Sound when timer ends. The finish still shows on screen.
