One switch for the whole site
Sound when timer ends on the timers and Beeps and alarm on the interval timer are the same setting. Turning it off on one turns it off everywhere, and it is saved in this browser. In full screen, the bell button in the bar does the same.
Turning sound off while the alarm rings stops it at once.
What plays on each tool
| Tool | Sound |
|---|---|
| Countdown and classroom | The alarm at zero |
| Pomodoro | One chime when focus ends; the alarm when a break ends |
| Stage | One chime at zero, never a ringing alarm |
| Interval | Three ticks before every change, a tone for work and for rest, the alarm at the end |
| Stopwatch | No sound |
How long the alarm rings
The alarm is a soft three-note chime that repeats about every two seconds, twelve times, for about 25 seconds. Then it stops on its own.
Stop a ringing alarm
- Press Stop alarm (the main button while it rings), or Space.
- In the Chrome and Edge floating window, press Stop. In Firefox and Safari, press pause in the picture-in-picture window.
- Pressing Reset, picking another length or turning sound off also stops it.
If you hear nothing
- Check the sound switch is on, and the device volume and mute switch.
- Browsers only allow a page to play sound after you've clicked or pressed a key on it. Any click on the page counts, including Start.
- If the browser still held the sound back at the end, a note says The browser held the sound back. Press Play alarm to hear it.
- If the browser can't play sound at all, a note says This browser can't play the chime. The countdown still finishes on screen.
- Check the tab isn't muted in the browser (right-click the tab), and that system Focus or Do Not Disturb isn't silencing the browser.
