Set the slot
- The page opens on 15 minutes in the Digital view.
- Tap 5, 10, 20, 30 or 60, or open Set a custom time for a 7 minute lightning talk.
- Choosing a preset never starts it, so you can set up while the previous speaker is still going.
- Space starts and pauses from anywhere on the page, which beats hunting for the button mid-applause.
Warning colours
The digits, the bar and the screen edge change colour as the slot runs out:
| Slot length | Amber from | Red from |
|---|---|---|
| More than 5 minutes | 2 minutes left | 1 minute left |
| 5 minutes or less | 1 minute left | 30 seconds left |
The warnings follow the time left, not the share of the slot. They show on the page, in full screen and on the second screen.
When the speaker runs over
- At zero the screen reads Over time and the clock keeps going, counting up behind a minus sign: -00:01, -00:02 and on.
- The digits stay red, the red edge pulses in the digital view, and the tab title reads, for example, -00:42 · Over time · TimerFlip.
- If sound is on, a single chime marks zero. It never rings on, so nothing goes out through the microphone.
- The count carries on until you press Reset or Restart, so the last overrun stays visible until the next speaker is ready.
Show the clock to the speaker
- Second screen puts the clock alone on a monitor facing the stage while you keep the controls. The monitor must be an extended display. See Second screen.
- Full screen turns the display you have into the clock, for when there is only one screen.
- Presenting from the same laptop? The floating timer keeps a small clock on top of your slides.
Send the speaker a message
Message the speaker appears under the controls once the second screen is open. Messages show on the second screen only, in big capitals beside the clock.
- Open the second screen.
- Tap a quick message, or type your own in Or type your own and press Send or Enter.
- The message shows at once, and the panel shows it under On screen.
- Press Clear to take it down.
- The quick messages are Wrap up, 5 min left, Slow down, Speak up, Move closer to the mic, Take questions and Look at the chat.
- Your own message can be up to 80 characters. Extra spaces are removed.
- Sending a new message replaces the one on screen.
- While a message shows, the clock moves to the left and gets smaller, the message fills the larger right-hand part as big as it fits, and the card pulses three times to catch the speaker's eye. On an upright screen the message sits under the clock.
- A message always shows next to the digital clock, even if you picked the cube.
- Closing the second screen clears the message.
Screen colours
Colours sets the screen and digit colours for the stage clock. There are seven: Classic, Midnight, Phosphor, Ice, Violet, Slate and Dim. Dim and Phosphor are easy on the eyes in a dark hall.
- The colours apply to the page, full screen, the cube and the second screen, including the message card.
- Amber and red still take over the digits near the end, whatever colours you pick.
- Your choice is saved in this browser.
